common in certain wines associated with "pepper" spices. He will also talk about the usual sensory components of these wines (i.e. sweet/tart/bitter/salt/umami/body/oak, etc.) and how they interact with common sensory qualities of BBQ style foods
(hot/sour/salty/sweet/umami/smoky, etc.). Join us as the W&R team prepares four popular BBQ dishes that will be tasted with 6 wines also commonly associated with either

Join us for a walking tour of the beautiful wedding garden, sensory garden, and the grounds of Wine & Roses. In this class, participants will also learn important gardening fundamentals such as; how to re-use and recycle their own containers at home, how to drill holes in planters, the art of layering the soil, using rocks to ensure proper drainage, etc. Cathy will lead participants in a hands on tutorial on how to begin, keep, and maintain at home kitchen herb gardens. She will demonstrate practical uses for herbs and edible flowers, including chives, basil, oregano, parsley, tarragon, rosemary, mint, edible flowers and the importance of knowing when they are okay to eat.

Wine & Roses will provide aprons, gardening gloves, and a variety of herbs. Participants need to wear comfortable closed toe shoes for the tour.

Golden Bear Ranch is located in Lodi, and produces beautiful organic produce featured in many restaurants including The French Laundry in Yountville, CA as well as our very own Towne House Restaurant, Wine & Roses, and Rosewood. On our tour of the farm, we will focus on the summer harvest- tomatoes, and other seasonal fruits and vegetables.
