Cooking 101

These classes are for the novice or beginning cook, or anyone who wants to improve their techniques. The third presentation in the Cooking 101 series will focus on breakfast. Breakfast and/or brunch is an excellent way for beginners to entertain. Breakfast for dinner is always a friend and family favorite. Chef John will introduce breakfast basics and techniques- focusing on the proper way to cook eggs, pancakes, French toast and breakfast meats.

$45 per person, includes a glass of sparkling wine or cider and tastings of each preparation.

Demystifying Fish-Part II 
Thursday September 10, 2015

The second part of our fish series will feature a review of the fish cooking methods
presented in Part I. Chef John will then show how to present each fish as an appetizer or
meal with sides, sauces, and plating suggestions.

$75 per person, ($59 if you attended Part I) includes a complimentary glass of wine and tastings of each preparation.

Holiday Cookie Decorating

Guest Instructor Katie Wood offers detailed instruction for “magazine worthy”, perfectly decorated cookies for upcoming Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays. Class participants will decorate four cookies of their own.

$59 per person, includes pastry bags, food colors and tips to take home. Additional items for sale the evening of class.

Farm to Fork Tour at Golden Bear Ranch (Date subject to change depending on weather and harvest times)
Saturday October 17, 2015 

Join us as we embark on our 2nd Farm to Fork tour at Golden Bear Ranches, featuring farmer John Gibson. Golden Bear Ranch is located in Lodi, and produces beautiful organic produce featured in many restaurants including The French Laundry in Yountville, CA as well as our very own Towne House Restaurant and Wine & Roses. On our tour of the farm, we will focus on the fall harvest- squash, pumpkins and other seasonal fruits and vegetables. After our tour, we will return to Wine & Roses for a demonstration class with Chef John.

Pie Anxiety

For the home baker, probably the most stressful item to bake is pie! This class will help you to overcome your hesitation and produce a pie which you will be proud to serve. We will focus on pie crust techniques and fillings. Each student will create their own apple pie to take home and bake.

$75 per person, includes all ingredients and a pie dish to keep. Please bring an apron.

February 2 & 3, 2016

Back by Popular demand, Guest Chef George Geary joins us for two specialty cooking classes!

Chef Geary is a well-known Culinary Educator, Pastry Chef, & Cookbook Author. He has published 10 cookbooks, and has been teaching around the country and internationally for over thirty years. Currently, Chef Geary is working with the Great Holland America Ship Lines conducting classes on board their ships. He has also taught cooking classes in all 7 continents. Recently, Chef Geary was named Educator of the Year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals, a highly regarded honor.
